Set within the tree-lined streets of Brooklyn Heights, this three-bedroom apartment renovation was guided by a clear intention: to honor the home’s classic bones while adapting it for the evolving needs of a modern, growing family. The result is a space that feels layered, thoughtful, and deeply personal—where traditional details and contemporary living coexist seamlessly.
A defining element of the project is the extensive use of custom millwork, designed room by room to transform previously underutilized areas into purposeful, beautifully integrated spaces. Storage was not treated as an afterthought, but as an opportunity for architectural enhancement. In the entryway, custom millwork was designed specifically for family life—providing dedicated spaces for children to drop backpacks, shoes, and daily essentials without creating visual clutter. A discreet integrated laundry room, tucked behind hidden doors, preserves visual calm while adding everyday convenience. In the primary bedroom, a custom-built desk that doubles as a vanity creates a private retreat—an intentional space where the homeowners can focus, unwind, or escape the rhythm of daily life without leaving the room.

The kitchen underwent a full gut renovation and was entirely reimagined with all-new custom cabinetry. Designed to feel both timeless and tailored, the new millwork balances clean functionality with refined detailing, ensuring the kitchen feels at home within the broader architectural language of the apartment.
Throughout the renovation, great care was taken to match and preserve existing details, including original crown moldings. These elements were thoughtfully integrated into new millwork, allowing modern interventions to feel cohesive rather than imposed. The result is a natural dialogue between old and new—where fresh functionality enhances, rather than competes with, the apartment’s historic character.

To complete the transformation, the entire apartment was repainted, and new wallpaper and lighting were introduced throughout. Color and pattern were used deliberately to create warmth and personality, blending traditional foundations with playful, welcoming accents. Together, these layers create a home that feels elegant yet approachable—designed to grow with the family while remaining rooted in the timeless charm of Brooklyn Heights.
